Whats Going On Now?

Updated: Apr 1, 2021

I'll be short and (hopefully) sweet this week with just a smattering of information for keeping you current in the ever-changing world of world travel.

First up – where can you go?

I had considered providing you a list of countries that are open to US travelers, but given the plethora of pre- and post-arrival testing, quarantine rules, forms to be completed, insurance requirements, and fast-changing regulations, if you’re simply trying to find out what’s needed for a particular country you should go to the sources: US State Department and the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Your travel advisor is on top of all this, so don't play the guessing game with your travel investment. Quoting news outlet CNN, “in the end, it's up to you to decide whether travel to international destinations is a good idea. The health risks are obvious. Nations might change their rules at any time. You may have to adhere to stricter curfews and mask mandates than Americans are used to following. Violations could involve hefty fines and even jail time.”

You can see a list of countries that will allow entry to US residents and citizens here. If you're curious about countries that are only open to vaccinated travelers, that list is here. I myself just returned from overseas, and I don’t think there were any empty seats on either of my flights. It seems that people are beginning to move around the planet. Are you ready to join them?

By now you aware that all air passengers two years and older must show proof of a negative Covid-19 test taken no more than 72 hours prior to your return in order to enter the United States. There are specific rules surrounding timing that are especially pertinent to trips with multiple flight legs and long layovers. Also, be sure to get information on testing sites in your destination for your return trip. US embassies report some countries are having trouble returning test results within the 72-hour window. Again, your travel advisor does this stuff for a living...'nuff said.

Next up – Virtuoso Wanderlist®

Have you started your wish list of the wondrous places you want to visit? In my article last week I invited you to create your own virtual travel-vision-board-in-your-pocket using Wanderlist, a web-based app that lets you dream, visualize, and keep your travel desires top of mind. This is your link to start creating your lists. You can have as many lists as you…wish. Add to your lists, choose activities, enter the addresses of interesting web pages or articles you come across. Invite family and friends (the ones you want to travel with), to share, see and add to your list. You can do that right from the app, or you can forward my article (go there, and share it by clicking on the three vertical dots above the title). The Wanderlist link is in the article as well as a link to a helpful video.

And aren’t the photographs stunning and inspiring? Your Wanderlist will help me pull together the elements of your trip because it tells me the flavors and feelings, sights and sounds you want for your vacation – the intangibles that sometimes escape words, no matter how descriptive you try to be.

Let's dream together with Virtuoso Wanderlist. It's fun, easy and free.
